This past week it appeared that James and I had incident after incident. On Monday evening James suffered a pretty nasty case of the stomach flu. The worst incident was that our apartment flooded!
I had woken up from an afternoon nap and took a step on the floor. I automatically felt wetness. I immediately thought, "Oh no! Sunny had an accident". I proceeded to turn on the light in our living room, and I looked and saw numerous puddles. I then thought, "Oh no! Sunny is really sick!!!" Since we had just gotten her fixed last week (which both of us felt horrible for at first), I wasn't for sure if she was having some sort of an infection. However, as I got closer to the "puddles" I thought to myself, "This doesn't smell like dog urine, and I'm pretty sure if she had gone THAT much, then surely I would have smelled it". I woke James up, and we quickly discovered that about an inch of water was in our bathroom. Pretty scarry. The small puddles quickly turned into half of our apartment's carpet being completely soaked through. James called the emergency repairman, and we waited for a very long hour until he got there.
James was pretty tense, so I tried to lighten the mood. I began to sing, "And the rain rain rain rain came down down down and right into Piglet's". I was delighted when he started to laugh, and his mood automatically returned back to "normal" James. The repair man said that he would have a pump in there to soak up the water along with a de-humidifer. I told James that I really didn't feel comfortable staying there. Luckily, the Gnaps let us spend a night in their apartment! We returned the next morning to discover that our carpet was completely dry. The only problem that remained was the moldesque smell that is still there. We were promised this morning that someone would be in this week to clean the carpet. I don' t know if that will happen this week since it is Thanksgiving.
Oh well, at least no one was hurt, and nothing was seriously damaged.
