Christmas 2011

The past few weeks have been busy and exciting! The first news being that I passed my classes this semester, which means that I only have one semester left to graduate! We also celebrated Jim's twenty-second birthday and Christmas. The best part was that we were able to celebrate all of it with the Texas Londts (Joe, Heidi, Abby, Joey, Lizzie, and Hannah)!! It was definitely a busy few weeks, but they were all worth it!

We started the Christmas festivities at my grandparent's house on the 23rd. I had forewarned my family that the Texas Londts were going to be in Indiana, and we wanted to dedicate as much time as possible to them because we rarely get to see them. I also wanted to see Madelynn open her presents, which was fun this year because she understood the concept of how to open presents! Once James was off from work, I went and picked him up. We headed straight to Albion, and we arrived just in time for the White Elephant gift exchange. We received the traditional banks that each great-grandchild gets from Grandpa and Grandma Cole; it was definitely interesting to receive two! The next morning we headed back to Muncie.

I began to plan Jim's birthday party a few months ago. I really wanted him to have an evening dedicated to his birthday because that is difficult to do on Christmas Eve. I also figured that we won't be able to celebrate each other's birthdays very well after this year because the girls will be here. James requested Chicken McNuggets, cabbage, mashed potatoes, ice cream cake, and pina colada. It was definitely a dinner that reminded everyone of James.

On Christmas morning all of us gathered at the Gnap's house to open presents. I was very happy to be able to use my camcorder to capture the event. The only downside was that I didn't take any pictures! All of the children were so excited to open their presents! We relaxed the rest of the day, and we had a delicious dinner.

The week with the Londts was a lot of fun. I had initially met them at Cracker Barrel in Anderson, and we had a nice lunch together. James and I had a lot of fun playing with all of our nieces and nephews! Hannah is adorable, and she is growing very quickly! Lizzie and I enjoyed a wonderful nap in a recliner one afternoon. Joey and James loved playing Nerf guns with each other. Abby was very cute, and she kept telling James how funny he was. We went swimming numerous times, and we went and saw Sherlock Holmes 2 (which was very good!). It seems like we never get enough time with them, but the week was full, relaxing, and fun! It's funny to think that the next time we see them our family size will have doubled!!

Seeing Twins!

On Monday James and I had our ultrasound! We were very excited to finally get to see Critter. I was having doubts as to whether I wanted to know the gender or not. I somehow had myself convinced that I would be able to keep the secret from everyone, including James! However, before we walked back James reminded me that not knowing the gender is "one of the only true surprises in life". How could I possibly argue with that?

The tech walked into the room and informed us that she wouldn't be able to stay the entire time because she would have to leave to pick up her dog from the vet. James and I said that that was fine, and we didn't care if they switched techs. The woman put the thing/probe onto my belly and very nonchalantly says, "Oh...twins." James and I looked at each other and said to her, "Ha Ha, very funny". She replied that she never jokes about twins. She left the room to get the other tech because she definitely wouldn't be able to finish the ultrasound now with two babies! The first things that run through my mind are, "Are they conjoined? Do they have spina bifida because I know my folic acid levels probably weren't high enough to support twins? Are they healthy? Do I have placenta previa? Can my short body support twins?" Pretty much every problem I had ever studied with twins came to my mind. The other tech walks in and starts doing the ultrasound, while James and I are still processing the fact that I have been carrying twins for 22 weeks and didn't know! The lady must have thought we were insane because the only words James could utter were, "Are you sure?". The only words I could manage were, "There's two." I then asked her how often people come in this far along and don't know they're having twins. She replied that it usually happened once a month.

The first thing to determine was if they are identical. It was very hard to tell because the twins are so close to each other. She then saw that there were two placentas that were very close to each other, and she determined that they are fraternal twins. This means that the twins are a result of my genetic predisposition to having twins. The next thing I asked was if they had spina bifida. They don't. In fact the twins received a clean bill of health! Baby A (the twin that will come out first because it's closer to the cervix) weighs one pound two ounces. Baby B (the twin underneath my ribs) weighs fifteen ounces. She then asked us if we wanted to know the genders. I looked at James and told him that I felt we needed to prepare since there were two. Who wants to see twins in gender neutral clothing? She discovered that they are both little girls! During the entire ultrasound we were so shocked that all we gathered was that we were having twin girls and that they are healthy.

We're praying that the girls are able to stay in long enough to be healthy. We're praying that Baby A becomes vertex, so I can have them naturally. We're praying for everything with school to work out. We can't wait until they are here and get to know them!! I guess James didn't factor in that there can be more than one kind of a GREAT surprise in life! We can no longer call the girls "Critter", so James has taken to calling them "Critters".

That is officially "Baby A"!

That's "Baby B" sucking her thumb!

Thanksgiving 2011

This Thanksgiving included two dinners and a lot of fun! We started off with the Taylor family and ended with the Cole family. I was definitely excited because my appetite has returned, and I knew I would be able to eat! Thanksgiving Day happened to coincide with Baby Londt being 20 weeks!

Since the Taylor family is starting to get rather large, we had our Thanksgiving dinner at Krannert Park. Krannert Park is kind of like a YMCA; it's where my Dad dove for a team. It was where I got most of my childhood immunizations, so it was nice to have a memory there that didn't include me getting poked! Almost everyone was there, so even in the large space it was crowded. It was nice to be able to see my Dad's family and catch up with them. People definitely noticed that I had a "belly". I must admit that in the past few weeks, I've "blossomed" into a pregnant belly.

James had to work on Friday, so we decided to spend Wednesday night in Albion. We woke up early and helped watch the Gnap kids while their parents helped cook. Once all of the family arrived, we ate a delicious meal! Everything was amazing! After the food James and I went and watched a little bit of football. Then we went over to Pat and Judy's house to see their baby donkey and their baby chicks. They were all adorable. We unfortunately had to leave early, but we decided to spend the night in Muncie. We had a lot of fun!

We hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

18 Weeks-Blessing in Disguise

I am officially 18 weeks pregnant. Today was my most recent midwife appointment, and everything is going great! I will be scheduling my 20 week ultrasound in the next week.

Critter's heartbeat is in the 160s and is very active. The midwife had to move the doppler three times because the baby kept moving. I began to feel the movements probably 1-2 weeks ago. I wasn't for sure if I was feeling movement, but after talking to family/friends, they confirmed that what I was describing sounded exactly like the early fluttering movements of a baby. It's definitely a different feeling, but in the past week I have been able to definitely feel kicks/punches. James was able to feel Critter move on Sunday night, which was exciting! I think he was expecting an actual "kick", but he was only able to feel the baby squirming around inside.

We almost had a huge fiasco at my appointment that definitely proved that God was at work! My card said that my appointment was for today, but the computer said my appointment wasn't until tomorrow. James was supposed to work a few hours tonight at one of his jobs, but he was going to come to my appointment before heading to Indianapolis. However, it would be impossible for him to drive back to Muncie tomorrow to come to the appointment because he would be at work at that time. When they told me the issue with the scheduling, I began to get nervous because I really wanted James to be there. My midwife said that it was not a big deal; I would just have to wait a little big longer. When we got out of the appointment, James was running behind. He called to make sure they really needed him in Indianapolis for two hours. Luckily, they said that they really didn't need him. Since he doesn't have to be at work until a little later in the morning, he's going to spend the night with me in Muncie because I have an on-campus clinical tomorrow! Not only did James get to hear the baby's heartbeat in person for the first time, but we also get to spend more time with each other tonight.

Carving Pumpkins

This past weekend at my grandparent's house James and I did our annual pumpkin carving! As usual we had a lot of fun. We had Madelynn do a pumpkin this year, which was fun to watch. She was very analytical and would only grab one seed at a time. She really liked to use the spoon that came with the kit.

James decided to carve the "Bat Signal", and I had decided to do a Winnie-the-Pooh pumpkin. James decided to free-hand his, but I used a stencil. I figured that since the design was so small that it would be easy; however, the little pieces were very hard to carve out. I gave up about halfway, and James finished it for me! Grandpa carved a little face on Madelynn's pumpkin. James and I had purchased another pumpkin for Sunny, but we were both too exhausted after doing ours to continue. When we were all done carving, grandma baked us some delicious pumpkin seeds!!

In other news we have a new niece! Hannah Joy was born on October 27, and she is adorable! We can't wait to meet her. This makes a total of six nieces and two nephews!!!

Critter

James and I are very happy to announce that as of today I am fifteen weeks pregnant! The baby is due on April 12. We are very excited, and we can't wait to meet Critter (the name we've given the baby until he/she is born). James and I have decided not to find out the sex, so we're going to have to wait to find out if it's boy or girl. We will definitely be happy with either!

We were able to hear the heart beat last Wednesday, and it was in the 160s (which some would say hints at a girl). The baby was very active and kept kicking the doppler! Hopefully, I will start to feel those little kicks in the next 1-2 months.

We would love and appreciate any prayers for our growing family!

September

Well, this is the time of year where I feel the busiest. During this season I am fully in school mode with little social interaction. I will say that this year hasn't been as stressful as the past three years, and I have been able to actually go out! The month of September was a lot of fun, and James and I did many social things.

In September James and I attended two weddings. One of the weddings was for some of our friends, and the other wedding was family. Both weddings were a lot of fun and enjoyable. These were the first weddings James and I had been to since our own wedding. We were able to dance, and I was reminded of the HUGE height gap between James and I. Here is a picture of James and I at his cousin, Chelsea's wedding.

Next week marks the end of my Childbirth course. It was a very exciting clinical, and I wish the class lasted the entire semester! I was able to witness a baby being born, and I was able to help a first-time mom figure out how to breastfeed. It was a great experience!

Senior Year

Even though this week is not over yet, my school week is over! This was the first week of my senior year in college. This means that I am finally in the home stretch of finishing college and starting a career. My teachers have all encouraged us that this semester should be more exciting than in the past. One teacher said that no one has ever failed that course, and the other teacher said that only one person has ever failed her course. That means the odds of me passing are good!

The school week went well, and it was only slightly overwhelming. We learned that in our 8 week course, we have numerous projects that we are going to have to do. My clinical teachers all seemed nice, so it should be a good semester. After this semester, I will only have management and intensive care left!

The downside to this semester is that I'm going to have to spend Wednesday nights away from James. I don't know how we did it earlier this year where we spent half of the week apart. It now seems that one night apart is too much. Luckily, David Jones offered to let me stay at the Oasis on Wednesday nights! It will be nice to spend some time there.

Weekend

This weekend was pretty busy; unfortunately, I forgot my camera! I wasn't able to take any pictures of the fun! On Saturday we (Susan, Kristen, and I) went to Ft. Wayne to go to Chelsea's bridal shower. It was a lot of fun, and Cassondra had made some very tasty cupcakes! We lost track of time, and we were almost late to Mackenzie's 6th Birthday Party!

James met us at the Gnap's house to celebrate her birthday. I thought about it, and I realized that the Gnaplings were 3,2, and 9 months when I met them! I can't believe that Mackenzie is already 6! She had many party guests, and she had a great time with them. The food was delicious, and I even enjoyed a tomato dip. I normally wouldn't eat anything that had a raw tomato in it, but this was very tasty! After the party James and I decided that we were going to spend the night in Muncie because it was too late to drive home.

On Sunday we awoke to a lovely morning. In the early afternoon we decided to go to Bob Evans to get some lunch. It was fun having everyone out to eat at once. The Gnaplings behaved themselves pretty well despite sitting in one space for a while. When we went back to Royal Oak Drive, Susan helped me start an outfit for Madelynn. I told Susan that I was interested in learning how to sew, and she told me that she would help teach me. I'm looking forward to it.

Susan and Dennis left for Bloomington to have dinner with family members. James, Kristen, and I went over to the Gnap's house for dinner. All of the kids were in great moods playing with the presents from the party the day before. Kendall had me design on a piece of paper a dress, which was quite funny. I'm not very creative, so it was funny to hear Kendall tell me to add "green" hair and "blue polka dots" to a purple dress. Once the kids had gone to bed, James went ahead and drove home on Susan's motorcycle because he was given permission to use it for the week. I stayed and watched a little bit of the show "In Living Color". I used to watch that show in high school because my mom had the DVDs.

James and I have been experimenting with Sunny this week. We talked about it, and we decided that we thought she was old enough to stay out of her cage when we were gone for a while. At first we had only let her out if we were going to be out of the apartment for 5-10 minutes. We thought she could handle it because she wasn't having accidents at the apartment, and we also figured she was old enough. Sunny does still chew on things (when left out), so before I leave I look around to see if anything she likes to chew on is within her reach. She is actually only alone for 1-3 hours because as I am driving to work, James is coming home. Both days she has done great! She hasn't had one accident, and James reported that she has been sleeping on the couch when he walks in. Hopefully, Sunny will be able to handle this new freedom!

July

This month has been very busy! James and I realized that we haven't spent one weekend at our apartment without someone coming over/ us visiting other people! James and I have had a great time this month; however, the looming school year is starting to creep up on me. The good news is that it's my senior year!

At the beginning of the month, Madelynn was not able to walk. However, she was trying everything she could to be independent! Here is a video of her at the beginning of this month:

Two weeks later here is Madelynn walking! This video doesn't show how well she does it. She might have inherited her Aunt Holly's clumsiness! She picks up her favorite book, and she's walking towards grandpa's room. She loves to be read to!

This past month, my mom moved out of her house to an apartment. This meant that I had to go through all of my old stuffed animals. I couldn't part with all of them, and I had decided to go ahead and give the ones I wanted but didn't need to Madelynn. Here is a picture of her with my only Cabbage Patch doll in the tub!

First Anniversary

On Saturday James and I celebrated our one year anniversary. We went out to eat at the Spaghetti Factory, which was where James took us the evening that he proposed. It was a very romantic dinner, and James was able to relax this time! We had a lot of fun reminiscing about the past year. Following dinner, we went to Circle City Mall and walked around.

On Sunday we ate our cake topper. We were a little apprehensive because everyone told us how disgusting it was. We were expecting a strawberry cake. However, when we cut into it, we realized that it was Funfetti! It tasted pretty good. We had a lot of fun with that experience.

It's hard to believe that our first year is over! It seems like yesterday we got married. We're looking forward to the second one!

Virginia

Last week my grandmother, Aunt Penny, and I went to Virgina. My grandma was going to Virginia for her high school reunion and visit family. I told grandma earlier in the year that I would be glad to go with her because I hadn't been there in a while. My Aunt Penny also came with us. We had a great time!

We left on Tuesday, and we arrived on Wednesday. We stayed with my "Great" Uncle Randy, who is my grandma's brother. He was a great host! He provided meals for us, and he also took us places. We went to the Yorktown Victory Center, which I really wanted to do. Following that, we went to the Yorktown Beach. Grandma said that she had a great time at her reunion. We spent the rest of the week shopping; we went to a HUGE Yankee Candle store. I was able to find the "Orchard Pear" scent that I had wanted to find. It was even better because that scent was on sale! We had a great time hanging out with our family that we rarely get to see. I'm hoping that James can go with me soon because I think he would really enjoy it.

Other updates include that I have a job! I'm going to be working in the office section where Jim works. I also have an internship lined up for the fall! We've had a lot of fun at our apartment. We've gone fishing almost every night. I even took a fish off the hook by myself for the first time! Susan cut my hair because the heat was driving me insane. It turned out great. Jim and I are enjoying our summer so far.

New Apartment!

This weekend James and I moved into our new apartment in Noblesville. After James got his job in Indianapolis, we decided that we needed a place between Muncie and Indianapolis. Noblesville appeared to be the perfect place for us! We searched for apartments in the area, and we found a great place. The apartment is almost double in size from our last place. We were very grateful for Dennis and Susan's assistance with moving. We really love it!

The apartment is right by Morse Reservoir, and we have about a one minute walk to it. The view is amazing! We're envisioning many fishing adventures in our future. Sunny appears to love the bigger environment too.

James Gets Tazed

Here is the video of James being tazed. James requested that I put it up, so here it is. It took me a while to be able to put it up due to technical issues. I would watch only if you really want to; it only lasts for five seconds. However, the five seconds to me felt like one minute. Well, here it is.

Happy Mother's Day

James and I spent our Mother's Day in Muncie. We woke up and decided to go out to lunch. Susan and Dennis joined us, and we had a great meal at Bob Evans. We then went back to their house to spend the day. Susan, Kristen, James, and I decided to put together a puzzle. It only took us a few hours, but we had a lot of fun doing it. The Gnaps came over, and we had a fire pit outside. We made hot dogs and smores. It was a nice, relaxing day! Happy Mother's Day!

Taking the Bull by the Horns

Well, I was thinking about how I wanted to add the video of me riding a mechanical bull in Texas on here when it happened, but I wasn't able to do it. I had attempted to do it earlier, but it took over an hour to load.

As a reminder, I realize it doesn't look like it's going that fast. However, it was pretty intimidating. I was convinced that I was going to chip my tooth!

Three Years Down, One to Go!!!

Yesterday I found out that I passed my junior year! I only had two finals, but I was still a little worried about them. I also had two online courses. After the nightmare I had last semester with online courses, I was very apprehensive about doing them. However, I had two required courses that were only offered online. I did not have the same problem of procrastination that I had last year. I passed my two online courses as well!

My clinicals this semester were so much more enjoyable than last year! My male teacher has been my favorite one so far. He pushed us to be better, which I enjoyed. I even volunteered with him yesterday to do stroke screenings, and he and I had a great chat. He asked what I wanted my focus of nursing to be, and I told him that I thought it would be obstetrics. He rolled his eyes, and he told me that it would be a waste of my time. He then described that the reason he felt that way was because he thought I was great with geriatric patients. He then told me that I was going to be a great nurse whatever I decided to do. Despite him saying that, I still believe that I will be going into obstetrics (which is where I feel that God wants me to be).

Well, tomorrow Kristen graduates! Hopefully, it will not rain. I look forward to going to it! Next year I will graduate too! I'm pretty excited!

Citizen's Police Academy

In January James enrolled for Citizen's Police Academy. I had received an email about the course, and Susan and I thought that it was perfect for James. Even though the email stated that it was for Ball State students only, we figured James should still apply. We received an email about a week later saying that James had been accepted!

The course lasted for ten weeks, and it started on Superbowl Sunday (and it was at the same time!). As dedicated as James is to football, he still went to the class even though attendance to each session was not mandatory. During this course he was able to shoot a gun, get tazed, and learn about the Ball State Campus Police Department. He thoroughly enjoyed it.

Last night was his "graduation". He was one of the few people who had perfect attendance! We had a very nice dinner, which was catered by Johnny Carino's. We had a nice time talking to other people from the class. They gave him a completion certificate, and they gave him a coin ( like most cops and all military carry).

Following the graduation ceremony, we went over to Susan's house. We arrived there earlier than expected, and we surprised a surprise party! We had a nice time eating cupcakes, and we even ate some KFC. We had a lot of fun playing cards!

I"m very proud of James for being very dedicated. One more week of the school semester. Pray I pass!

Easter

Yesterday was Easter, and it was a busy day! We had two delicious Easter meals, and we had a lot of fun! James and I had a great time, and we loved being able to see both sides of our families in one day for a holiday! Since James and I spend last Easter with his family, we decided to start this Easter holiday with mine. We are trying to ensure that both of our families feel included, and we are alternating each holiday with the other family every year.

Since we started the holiday with my side of the family, we were there from Friday-Sunday. On Friday all of us played Euchre, which was very enjoyable! I had never seen my grandparents play any form of cards before. On Saturday my brother went to Prom! He was definitely excited, and he looked very nice in his tuxedo. It definitely reminded James and I of our Prom memories, which led to a fun conversation!!

Matt had Madelynn on Saturday, but since he was at the Prom, Mom and I decided to take Madelynn to visit the Easter bunny at the mall. This outing went a lot smoother than the other one. When she sat on the Easter bunny's lap, she looked so cute! However, she was more interested in feeling the bunny's coat than smiling at the camera. Mom and I were able to grab something to eat, and we had a great time on our girl's night out!

On Easter Sunday James and I went to church with Grandma, Grandpa, and Madelynn! We were worried that Madelynn would not be able to come with us, but she was! It was nice to be able to go to Plainfield because we rarely go there. Following church we gathered at my Uncle Ron and Aunt Penny's house. We had a great feast, and enjoyed every minute of it.

We then arrived in Muncie to have an Easter dinner. We met Kelly and Aaron's new puppy, Duke! He is so cute. We were able to have a rainy Easter egg hunt. Unfortunately, James and I had to come home early because I had an exam today! I had studied very little over the weekend because of the holiday, but I knew that I needed to. I ended up doing well on the exam!

We found out today that poor Kendall has broken her collar bone; Kelly said it would take three weeks to heal. She's such a strong little trooper! Next week is Finals week. I calculated that I need to get a 65% on my Final in my hardest class in order to pass, which is nice! Everyone have a great week!

An Amazing Weekend!

James and I had a great weekend! We were able to spend time with both of our families; we had a lot of fun. It was a nice relaxing weekend before Finals Week (which is in two weeks!!!)

We started the weekend with my family. Since James works in Indianapolis, we usually spend Thursday through Saturday there at my grandparent's home. When we arrived on Thursday, we discovered that Madelynn was there! I was very excited to see her because she's growing up too quickly! I feel like I'm missing it! I took her outside for a little bit, so she could sit on the grass. However, she didn't like the feeling of grass very much. She definitely knows to smile for a camera, so I was able to get some good pictures of her. On Friday, my mom and I went shopping for Madelynn's Easter dress. My Uncle Ron and Aunt Penny came over to see everyone. It was nice to see them because it had been a while since I had.

On Saturday James and I made our way back to Muncie. We had a nice dinner over at Susan's to celebrate her birthday! We've started having our "Sunday dinners" again, which I love! I think it's great that we're able to just relax and hang out. We're considering moving them to Saturday's, so we don't have the relaxing evening ruined by the approaching Monday. Once dinner was over, we began to start playing cards. I really wanted James to learn how to play Euchre, but I had given up hope that he would want to learn. Euchre is a pretty complex game, and it takes a while to learn the strategy behind it. However, he did an amazing job! He did great, and he said that he will play again.

An Occasion

On Friday my mom and I were able to take Madelynn shopping!! It was the first time that we were able to take her somewhere without one of her parents coming too. We went out to get her an Easter dress. It turned into quite an event. We ran into many mishaps along the way. I believe the number one issue was the fact that we didn't pack her diaper bag, and we trusted someone else to put in all of the necessary items.

We went to Target to find her a cute dress, which we did! I told mom that she needed to have some sort of a headband, and she agreed. However, Target was out of them. We drove to Walmart on a quest for headbands. We quickly found them, when things began to go bad. When we were shopping at the store, we discovered that Madelynn had gone number one through her clothes. We raced to the nearest bathroom only to discover that there was not A) a spare outfit or B) wipes! We improvised and made it work; we were done shopping, so we just decided it was a good time to head home. When I strapped her into her car seat, I discovered that she only had one sock on! We had misplaced one!

On the car ride home, Madelynn began to cry for her bottle. I took off the top of the formula container only to discover that it was unopened. This might not be a big deal to a mom to open a formula container in a moving vehicle, but to a mere aunt with no children, it was a huge deal! I was envisioning me opening the container, and it going everywhere! I cautiously opened it, and I didn't spill any. It was pretty complicated to pour out the right amount of water and put in the formula without spilling any. I'm sure with practice, I will be fine. However, I was pretty nervous. As soon as Madelynn received her bottle, she stopped crying and everything calmed down. My mom even found her sock in her blanket!

When we arrived back at my grandparent's house, we had to put the dress on her. We were too excited to wait for Easter. She looked absolutely adorable!

Mustard Seeds and Mountains

Since James is staying in Indy for part of the week because of the location of his job, I'm all by myself. I thought it was an opportune time to write.

We returned from the mission trip on Sunday, and it was awesome! We went to West Virginia, and we stayed in Northfork. I even picked up a hint of a southern accent; unfortunately, I'm sure I will lose it in less than a week. Some of the highlights included us watching a man shoot an extremely loud gun. I learned how to sand a ceiling. I also practiced my skills at painting trim. I even helped Kristen learn how to play Euchre, which my Dad taught me. I love playing, but I always have issues finding three other people to play. Since we were in the South, we all quoted "O Brother, Where Art Thou?". We didn't have any cell phone service or internet, so I began to get homesick for James towards the end of the week. On our way home, we stopped in Charleston and rested.

James and I were excited to see each other. We went over to his parent's house to hang out for a little bit. We were able to hang out with the Gnap children, and we actually watched, "O Brother, Where Art Thou?". The next day James and I took Sunny for a walk to Muncie Central. We let her off the leash, and she loved it!! Here's the video, but it doesn't truly show how quickly she ran!

I Will Worship While I'm Waiting

As this month approached, James and I realized the seriousness of our economic situation. We were praying to God to show us the direction we needed to go. We wanted to follow God's path, but I was personally showing weakness. I began wondering when God was going to show us His way. James kept saying that God would provide, but I kept saying, "When!" While I was having these thoughts, I watched the movie "Fireproof". I had seen the movie before, but this time I heard a song in it that I had not caught before. (As a side note: If you have not seen "Fireproof", I completely recommend it!!! The movie is awesome. If you live near me, I can loan it to you) The song is called, "While I'm Waiting". For those who have not heard the song, the song is about waiting on the Lord. Some of the lines are:

"I will move ahead, bold and confident
Taking every step in obedience
While I'm waiting
I will serve You
While I'm waiting
I will worship
While I'm waiting
I will not faint
I'll be running the race
Even while I wait "

Can you say, "Ouch!". Well, I was quickly reminded of the big picture, "God is in control. He will demonstrate His wonders in ways that I can't imagine. " My attitude completely changed! Even when I can't see God's immediate plan, I must hold fast and worship Him. This song was definitely an inspiration to me, and I encourage everyone to listen to it. Well, God has provided for us!!! James has a job, and he will still be able to go to school. Through all of our relatives, James and I received the help we needed to get us through! My dad's family (Dad, Jackie, and Colten) were able to come and visit us in the process of helping us out!! Without both of our family's help, we wouldn't have made it through!! God provided a way for us. Jim's job is in Indianapolis, which gives me an excuse to go see my family!!!! God worked everything out perfectly in ways that no one could have ever predicted.

I'm going on a mission trip this week, so let's hope it goes well. I'm packed and ready to go; I'll be returning on Saturday.

Singing in the Rain

I haven't really had anything to blog about lately. Since my last update was on a snow storm, I think that it is only appropriate to discuss the rain storm we had last night!

Last night/early morning was very interesting! James and I had come home after a great weekend with my family. We were over at Dennis and Susan's house visiting Kristen. Kristen and I even made a yummy cake. Well, after the Oscars were over everyone decided to go to bed. I had to be up early because I had to study for an exam, so James and I decided to spend the night.

After about an hour and a half of sleep, I woke up to the sound of the tornado siren! I knew it had been raining and thundering a little, but I didn't know how bad it had gotten. Since I was only half awake, I remember thinking, "If there's really a tornado, I will hear it first. I'm not going to go in the bathroom until I hear it." What dumb thinking!! I rolled over, and the siren stopped. Five minutes later it went off again. I then realized it was serious, so Kristen and I ventured to wake James up. He wasn't very happy, but he understood what was going on. Eventually the weather appeared to calm down, but we soon realized that the tornado siren was the least of our worries!

When everything had calmed down, I ventured over to the door to take a look outside. I saw that the street was now a river!! Earlier that day all of the snow had melted, and it had rained all evening. The water was slowly creeping towards the garage door and the house. It was very scary! We decided to move the cars closer to the garage because the water was getting deep. I put on Kristen's rain boots, and I ventured over to my car. The boots went up to my knees, and water was starting to get in them by my car door. I began to freak out. I need my car, and I could tell that if the water got much deeper my car would have some serious water damage. It was also about three in the morning, and I had an exam today! I could tell it wasn't going to be a good day. We were able to move every car except mine because the exhaust was under water. James said that he wished that he had a kayak; I'm glad that it didn't come to that!!!!

Once we realized that the water had stopped advancing towards us, we decided to try and get some sleep. I woke up at 8 o'clock, and I emailed my teachers the situation. I hoped that they would be understanding, which they were. I'm going to take my exam on Thursday. When the water went down, I went to my car to investigate the damage. I opened the door, and there was miraculously no water!! Nothing was ruined. Susan's studio was still intact. Everyone was okay. If the water had come any closer, it would have been in the garage. God demonstrated his mercy towards us!!

Snow Everywhere!

This past week Muncie received a lot of snow and ice! Even though it was quite bad outside, none of my classes got cancelled, which I'm used to. My high school was notorious for never canceling school; I don't remember having any snow days. The only thing I do recall is that we received a two-hour delay when there were eight inches of snow on the ground. Ironically, my school was closed Tuesday-Friday this week. The snow didn't prevent anything; it was very hard to get the layer of ice off of the windshield (which James did. Bless him). Sunny didn't like the ice too much. She adores snow; she tends to try to eat it! She didn't like the insecure feeling of walking on the slippery ice, and she looked pretty funny trying to do it.

Nothing else has really occurred lately. I got a good grade on my first exam. My grandparents bought me Singin' in the Rain!!! It's one of my favorite movies, so I've been watching it all of the time. That's about all for now!

Something Wicked This Way Comes

For the past two to three weeks the Londt apartment has been filled with Harry Potter!! James successfully read all seven of the books in a swift amount of time, which is not an easy task. I began reading the books in the fourth grade, and I had to wait for each new book to come out. James was very fortunate to have them at his disposal because I have them! I'm not for sure what inspired this random interest in the series, but James completely immersed himself in it.

Usually I'm the one that requests being left alone because I'm at a good part in a book. Wherever we have gone in the past two weeks, James has brought the book he was reading with him; he has also been enjoying the movies. James has to wait for the last movie to come out though, and he's pretty excited (I am too!!). We have to wait until July 15, which is also Cole's third birthday!

Pleasant Surprise

Last evening I drove to Indianapolis for a class I was supposed to have today. I knew that a snow storm was coming, so I thought that it would be wise to leave the night before. I didn't want to drive on I-69 in 4 inches of snow. Well, about two hours after I arrived in Indianapolis, my teacher emailed me saying that the class was canceled! Even though I was glad to see my family, I was regretting the "planning ahead" I had done. Gas isn't cheap!

Fortunately, Matt called later on last night to ask grandma if she could watch Madelynn because her babysitter was sick. My grandpa had surgery last week, and he is still isn't 100%. It would've been impossible for grandma to take care of grandpa and Madelynn without help. Luckily, God had provided a way for grandma to have help!! I was there! I no longer felt dumb for driving to Indianapolis.

Whenever Madelynn napped this morning, I did some homework. I played with Madelynn all this afternoon once my homework was completed! I had a lot of fun watching my niece. I was able to giver her a bath, which she LOVED!! The last time I had seen Madelynn she wasn't able to sit up by herself. Now she can, which made bath time a lot easier. She loved splashing the water.

This just goes to show you that God always has a plan!! I thought I was coming to Indianapolis to go to a class, and God's plan was for me to help my grandma and play with my niece.

Birthday

My 21st birthday was today, and it was a great birthday! I was afraid that it would be a boring one; my mom had planned on coming up to visit us. Unfortunately, my mom had to change her plans, and she was not able to come to Muncie. Despite the change of plans, the day was still fun.

James and I sat and read the entire day. James began reading the Harry Potter books late last week. Today he finished reading the second one. We have reached the agreement that we will buy the movie after James has finished the book. Since I have been a fan of the books since elementary school, I'm glad that James and I can now discuss them. Well, James and I sat around reading the Harry Potter books all day.

We wanted to go out to dinner so I could get my one birthday beverage. We decided to go to Texas Roadhouse, which was delicious. Susan, Dennis, and Kristen joined us. I had initially told our waiter that I didn't want to do the saddle, but I was convinced that I needed to by everyone else. The food was good, and I had fun showing my I.D. to get a drink!

Following dinner we decided to go bowling. I'm not a very good bowler, but I love the environment (when it doesn't smell like smoke, and this one didn't!). James even beat his mom at one of the games. We then went to the Gnaps house to play Wii bowling, which I am sort of good at.

It was a great birthday!! I have to return to reality and start doing homework. Breaks are always relaxing and necessary in my opinion.

First Week of Class

The school year started off with a loud bang after a fun trip to Texas. We arrived in Muncie around 10:00 PM. I quickly went to bed because I had class at 10:00 the next morning, and all of us were exhausted. The day before class started I was half-expecting an email from my teacher assigning chapters I would need to read for the next day. Last semester I experienced the same predicament, and I had to read ten chapters the day before classes started. No email came, so I was relieved.

The day went fairly easily. My professor for one course seemed fairly nice; she definitely was not intimidating. My other professor seemed just as nice and very laid-back. My two online courses are being taught by the same professor, so I better be nice to her because my fate in two classes depend on her. I vowed to not take any more online classes after the horror of last semester, but I was reassured that these classes had assignments with due dates. I have already semi-started one assignment out of two that are due on Friday.

The clinicals appear to be pretty intimidating. I have one huge paper and one huge project in one of the clinicals. My other clinical is being instructed by a man, which is a new experience. I LOVED my Med-Surg clinical instructor from last semester; I hope I can figure out a way to ask him questions if I need to.

It should be a busy semester, and I hope that I am up to the challenge!

James went to Ivy Tech this week to possibly investigate starting a Criminal Justice degree in the summer.

Last Day in a Warm Climate

Friday was an eventful day. We woke up with a plan to go to the Water Gardens and Uno's Pizza. James and I also had plans to eat with my cousins Misty and Brian. The weather was amazing; I believe it got up to near 70.

We arrived at the Fort Worth Water Gardens, and we were greeted with amazing fountains!! The first one was very loud, and one could walk down to be in the middle of it. I wasn't for sure if I was going to go down there because I am desperately afraid of heights. I was also frightened to walk down there because I had heard of a family dying from falling in. However, the walk down there was worth it. James, Susan, and I went down there, and we took some nice pictures. I have never seen a fountain like that before! It was cool to look up and see water tumbling down towards you. The next structure you could climb up. James, Kristen, and I did it. I don't know if it was a good decision yet because my knee is still hurting. I think the combination of keeping my knee in one position in the car and then climbing made my knee hurt. The other fountains were just as amazing.

Lunch was good, but it didn't live up to my expectations. I personally think that I am a picky eater, so I think that had a lot to do with it. I don't like tomatoes, and the pizza sauce had chunks of tomato in it. I picked out the tomatoes, but it still wasn't as good as I thought it could be.

Susan drove us to where their family used to live in Texas. She said the little town had really grown since they lived there. I thought it was a quaint little town. It seemed like a nice place to live.

James and I went over to my cousin's house for dinner. She made us a delicious homemade dinner, and it was nice to be able to catch up with her. Her house is amazing!! I think James loved the fact that Brian is in the process of building his own chopper. After dinner James went to a hockey game with Joe, Heidi, Kristen, and Joey. Susan watched the little girls. He said that even though their team list, he had a great time. I spent the evening with Misty and we watched a movie. She really made me feel welcome, and she encouraged us to move to Texas. When James picked me up, I YET again left an item behind. I was able to go get my purse via a much easier route than my cell phone. We just simply turned around.

Joe and Heidi graciously let us spend the night at their house on Friday evening. James and I slept in the guest room/Joey's room. Joey normally slept in the big bed that James and I were sharing, but he was going to sleep in his toddler bed that night. James and I went to bed, and we thought everything was very comfortable. When I fell asleep, I had my arm under Jim's head. I woke up in the middle of the night, and I thought Jim hadn't moved from that spot. I felt James get up out of the bed, but I still felt someone on my arm. When he came back to bed, I whispered, "James, is Joey in the bed with us?". He sure was!!! Not only was he in the bed with us, but I had been holding Joey for the better half of the night! It was very humorous. The next morning Heidi made us a delicious breakfast. After breakfast Heidi gave us our birthday presents! They got James a Mario T-shirt and Dublin Dr. Pepper, and they got me a Dr. Pepper shirt with Dr. Pepper!! I thought our gifts were very appropriate and funny. I have become quite the Dr. Pepper fiend. We said our goodbyes, and we pulled out of Ft. Worth. It was a great trip, and I can't wait to go back!!!!

We stopped and ate at Lambert's Cafe this morning. They "throw" rolls at you. The food was great!! Unfortunately, James is pretty sick, and he spent most of the time in the car. We think it's a combination of a cold and sinuses problems. We pray that he will be back to normal soon. Well, we hear that Muncie, Indiana is experiencing five degree weather. I am not looking forward to getting there. Classes start tomorrow, and I am dreading it!!!

Relaxation

I realize this post is coming a few days late, but I still want to update because I want to remember this trip!! On Thursday we went with the mantra of relaxation. I woke up feeling a little tired from the splendor of the trip. We realized that we needed to change hotels because a hockey team was going to be coming in, and they didn't have any available space. We luckily didn't have to move too far because there was another hotel with the same price across the way. We moved over to the hotel, and we tried to decide what to do with the rest of the day. Everyone wanted to take it easy that day, so we decided to go to the mall!!!

Since I LOVED the BBQ from the night before, I wanted to eat there again before we went back to Indy. I wanted to get the desire for BBQ out of my system. We went there for lunch, and we had a nice time. We then went to the mall. The store "Brookestone" caught my eye, and I love that store. I asked James if we could go in there and sit in their comfortable chairs. I think all four of us spent about ten to twenty minutes sitting in their massage chairs. They are just so comfortable!!

Right outside of the store was a calendar place, and we meandered over there. Susan discovered that there was a "Lefty"-handed daily calendar that she was going to get for Heidi. The clerk said that she had a Lefty daily planner, which I ended up getting. I wrote in it, and it was pretty awesome to not have to worry about a wire spiral being in the way! I know that I'm not a true Lefty because I do accomplish tasks with my right hand, but today I began to wonder if that's because no one knew how to teach me to do anything with the left hand. I always thought that a right-handed mouse was fine, but I used Heidi's today. Heidi's mouse quickly made much more sense to me. Perhaps I am a true Lefty, and I have altered my way of doing things when I was younger. Who knows?

While at the mall, Kristen and I walked into a jewelry shop. We knew we'd never be able to get anything, but it's still nice to just look. All of the diamonds were so sparkly; I quickly became ashamed of not giving the proper maintenance to my engagement ring. I actually told Kristen, "Man, I need to get my ring cleaned!". The clerk told me that she would clean it for free, but she was going to look for any flaws, so she could fix them (AKA my ring would be broken, and I would have no money to fix it!!!). The clerk put on her diamond microscope thing, and she began to inspect the ring. I started to break a sweat because I knew that I wouldn't be able to get it fixed. Kelly's ring is very similar to mine, and it seems that she commonly has issues with the ring breaking. I was nervous that my ring would have the same fate. Luckily for me, my ring is in good condition with no problems!! The ring is also now clean and sparkly!!! While we were waiting for my ring to get clean, the clerk let Kristen and I try on some rings for fun. She even let us put on a $50,000 ring!!!!! I couldn't believe that she let us do it. That ring has one huge diamond on it, and it was worth more than my life!!! We were both afraid to even touch it. We both thought the diamond was too big to actually wear because it was the size of a knuckle. It was huge!!!

Later on that evening, we went over to Joe and Heidi's for dinner. Everyone had fun playing Wii. The Lasagna was very delicious, and we enjoyed hanging out. I was able to assist Susan when she gave Joey and Lizzy a bath! It was a good night.

Zoo and BBQ

Yesterday we went to the Ft. Worth Zoo. While we were there, we saw some pretty interesting stuff. We initially went to see the monkeys. There was a baby monkey, and it was so cute! The mommy picked some of the fleas off of the baby just like in the movies. We saw the guerrillas, and one of them was not in a good mood. While observing it behind the glass, it pounded its chest and rammed hard into the glass. Even though one knows that the glass is reinforced, it's still a bit frightening to see it happen! The other guerrilla in the cage reminded me of James. It was eating while looking over it's shoulder, which is classic James. He'll sneak food, and he is notorious for saying, "Are you gonna eat that?". My camera battery began to die, and I wasn't able to take as many pictures as I would have liked, but I was able to get all of the essential pictures taken.
The flamingos were fascinating, and while we were there we heard this loud animal roar. We glanced at each other wondering, "What the heck was that!?!?". We discovered that it was the lion later on. Any time that I have gone to the zoo, the lion was always sleeping, but this lion was on the move! Both the female and male lion were pacing back and forth and roaring at each other. It was awesome to hear one up close! Later on we heard the leopard roar too. The animals must have been hungry or plotting their escape!
After the Zoo we ate at a bbq place because the kids could eat free on Wednesdays. I LOVED it! I can tell that if I lived in Texas, I would probably become very fat because the food is amazing!! Not only did I eat all of my food, but James and I ate about half of Kristen's food. She had a baked potato with meat on it. Oh my gosh the potato was amazing!!! It is definitely one of my new favorite foods!! Of course my Dr. Pepper craving got the best of me at lunch and dinner. It's just so good!
When everyone had finished eating, we went swimming. Susan and Heidi went to Walmart to get some goods. The rest of us began to swim. We had a good time, and it was nice to be able to swim with our nieces and nephew!!! I had a moment where Joey reminded me greatly of James!!! When I get into a pool, I usually have to walk myself into the pool; I've never been able to just jump in. James usually will pick me up and somehow toss/walk me in. After we had gotten out of the hot tub, I went and sat on the steps leading into the pool. Joey gave me a very sly smile and said to me, "Are you going to get in the pool? I'm in the pool. You should be too. Swim with me.". His little grin reminded me so much of James! We rarely get to have one-on-one time with the little kids because usually ALL of the family is together when we see them. It was so nice to be able to play with them. Susan spent the night at the Londt's house, and the rest of us had a relaxing evening watching TV.

Texas Day 2

The morning started early yesterday. We decided to go to the Ft. Worth Stock Yards. We had a lot of fun looking at the different shops. James and I bought our traditional magnet and shot glass ( Disclaimer: We do not actually use the traditional shot glass. They're just something cheap to buy as a souvenir. Dumb? Probably, but we still do it). Many pictures were taken, so the day was well documented photographically. We were very happy when Heidi arrived with all of the kids!

I had some Dublin Dr. Pepper on tap. It is DELICIOUS!! I've found that since I've been here; I have craved Dr. Pepper. Anytime we eat anywhere, I want it. It might just be me, but I am a new addict!! Another interesting food item was a waffle in the shape of Texas. Susan and Kristen brought James and I some breakfast. We got a huge kick out of the shape of the waffles.

I saw my first "real" cowboy; however, it was actually a cowgirl! The kids enjoyed petting some of the horses. Across the street we saw a mechanical bull. We saw people riding it, and they made it look pretty easy. Heidi wanted one of us to do it, but I was too chicken to go first or be the only one! Normally, I would depend on James to be the "first" one to do something, but he wisely decided to not attempt it because of his knee. Susan went first, and she made it look like it was a lot of fun. I went second with Kristen and Heidi following. Poor Lizzy did not enjoy watching her relatives be in peril. I do not regret doing it for a second!! It was a lot of fun.

Following the Stock Yard trip, we gathered at Joe and Heidi's house to go on a trip to Ikea!!! Ikea has been my new favorite store since we took a trip there last year. I wanted to get some candles for my birthday. I loved the candle we got there last time, but I had to use it sparingly because I only had the one. For my birthday I requested to get more of those candles. While we were there, I also saw a lamp that I really wanted, and my loving husband decided that it was okay to get it. I had a lot of fun with Joey while pushing him around. He loved watching a chair being "tested" for durability, and he loved playing with the paper rulers they have there. Another fun Ikea trip is under my belt!

When we arrived at the hotel, I uploaded the pictures I had taken. My cousin, Misty, commented on the pictures, and she wanted to know what part of Texas we were staying in. I had completely forgotten that she lives here! I didn't know what part of Texas she lived in. Since I don't really know my way around Texas, I told her Ft. Worth. I later told her the area that I was in, and she told me that I was about `15 minutes from her!! She and I plan on getting together later this week and having dinner. I guess I can no longer say that I don't have any family in Texas!!!

The weather here is amazing! I can't believe how great it is. Most people who are here are saying it's freezing (not all though). The news said that it was going to be a cold one. 60 degrees is prime Spring weather back in Indiana. I got a nice picture of James touching green grass in January!!

All Safe in Texas Minus 1

Around 7 o'clock yesterday morning everyone arose from bed and went to a free breakfast. James and I were already wide awake from the night before as a result of the other snoozers in the room. lol. We quickly packed up, and we were on the road!! We had another fun ride with the assistance of ABBA and The Beatles. While on the road, I was requested to get my phone out. I quickly realized that I didn't have it!!! Being the woman who is notoriously infamous for misplacing a cell phone, I quickly became angry at myself! Susan called the hotel, and we discovered that my phone was there. We left the beloved phone behind as a result of Jim moving it, and I didn't remember to grab it. We were luckily able to work it out, so my phone will be safely returned to me!

We arrived at Joe and Heidi's house around 5:30 PM. After everyone said their greetings, we went to the local skating rink to get some pizza!! The pizza was delicious!! We then went back to Joe and Heidi's house and started playing with the Wii. I had a lot of fun reading to Joey and Abby!! I also heard Joey say Jim's name and mine for the first time. Usually we were just called, "Hey!!". It was exciting for us to have Joey run up to us and say, "HI Uncle James! Hi Aunt Holly!" We had a lot of fun hanging out and talking. Since the trip was VERY spontaneous, we were trying not to intrude on Joe and Heidi's work/sleep schedule. We returned to the hotel, and thanks to two sets of earplugs, James and I slept a peaceful sleep!

Westward HO...Texas or BUST!

After a phone call from Susan asking us if we would be interested in going to Texas, James and I quickly decided that we were interested. James hadn't been to Texas in a few years, and I have never been outside the DFW airport. We're both excited to be going. We wanted to pack and leave that minute, but we didn't. We spent a relaxing evening over at the Gnap's house. This afternoon we left for Texas!!!!

The trip has been fun so far. We've had a lot of fun, which has included the singing of many Abba and Air Supply songs!! We reached our hotel this evening and enjoyed some pizza. James, Kristen, and I had a lot of fun in the pool. We plan on getting an early start tomorrow, and we should hopefully be in Texas tomorrow afternoon!! I plan on taking lots of pictures with my NEW digital camera!!!
