Family

Well, I survived my first two weeks of school (barely). I've been completely exhausted, but I'm hoping that in the end it will all be worth it. I'm constantly reading. I've also been asking everyone, "how does that make you feel" as a result of my psychiatric training. I hope that nobody feels neglected from a lack of attention from me because it is not intentional. I'm just constantly stressed about staying ahead with schoolwork. I also found out last week that I won't be able to go to BSF this year, which made me very upset. I had been looking forward to it since last year because they're doing the study on Isaiah. I can't do it because I have to go to the hospital to get information on my client the evening before I treat them (which makes sense because I need to be effective and knowledgeable with my client). Well, the evening I have to go is the evening is the night of BSF. I'm disappointed, but I'm hoping my schedule allows me to possibly do it next semester!

This past weekend some of my family (grandparents and mom) came to visit us in Muncie! I was very excited to see my family because I haven't been able to see them much because of our busy schedule. Time with my family is a valued thing. I get very excited when they come, but I get very sad when they leave. It is much easier for me to be the one leaving Indianapolis than them being the ones leaving Muncie. I think and hope they had a good time. They were able to see our apartment, which I think they liked. They were able to eat at Puerto Vallarta. We also walked around Ball State, which Sunny loved!! She was able to take a small swim in Frog Baby. It was great for me to see my family, and I can't until I get to see them again. I'm going home this weekend to celebrate my brother, Jake's birthday. I'm pretty excited! I rarely get to see my dad's family, so I seize every opportunity I can. James hasn't even met my Dad's family because of his work schedule. We're going to try and ensure a way that James can come. I'm also excited because I get to see Madelynn!!

Jim's dad had been in the hospital for the past week with a pressure sore that got infected into his bone. After some deliberation he decided to let the surgeon take the bones that were effected, which the doctor said was the best decision after the surgery. Dennis seemed to have been in good spirits despite everything. Everyone was relieved when we found out the infection was not in his blood, and his kidney was doing alright. He's home now doing well. I think everyone involved was glad to see his blood glucose do so well too! It was also good experience for James and I to see a dressing change post-op. I had only seen that kind of stuff in books, and it was great (or should I say gross???) to see it. Either way I was not traumatized enough to change my major.
