I cannot believe that the girls are almost 3! They have turned into very sweet and silly little girls. I believe that most parents find their children amusing; Jim and I are no exception. A good example of this is that we laugh at almost anything the girls say or do. Their vocabulary is expanding, and they are learning phrases that we really find hilarious.
Around six months ago, we watched Sleeping Beauty with the girls. I was kind of nervous because that particular Disney movie can get a little scary. One scene in particular that kind of stuck with both Katie and Jubilee is the scene where Aurora pricks her finger and "falls down asleep". The girls both gasped and looked at me and asked, "Mommy, what happened?". Well, I was a little stumped as to how to explain what happened without making it scary....so I just simply said, "She fell down asleep"...which I guess is technically what happened. I had no idea that this idea/phrase would stick with them. Anytime something happens to anyone, on TV or real life, the girls think someone has fallen down asleep. In fact, that is the name the girls have given Aurora-"fall down asleep", and it is also their title for the movie. I guess there are worse things they could call it.lol. Everytime they say it in front of Jim and I, we just kind of look at each other and shrug our shoulders with a little laugh.
A name the girls have outgrown is "Benna". Now Benna was the name for Jubilee's favorite little teddy bear. It is dressed like a ballerina, with a tutu and ballet slippers. Jubilee called it Benna for months, and she even had Katie calling it that too. Until two months ago, Jubilee asked me where "Ballerina" was. I looked at her and said, "Do you mean Benna?". She smiled back and said, "Yes, Ballerina". Jim and I have even tried to continue to call this teddy bear Benna, but now that Jubilee can say ballerina, it has officially been renamed to her.
Another word the girls have figured out the right pronunciation for is "fire-gets". AKA fireworks. This word was another Jubilee creation that Katie picked up on. The girls have always enjoyed fireworks, and at the beginning of Disney movies fireworks are usually shown. At the start of a Disney movie, both of the girls would literally yellow "fire-gets". Until one day, it clicked that they were fireworks. Again Jim and I tried to continue the baby language, but once they figured out the right way to say it there was no turning back.
